ABSTRAC
In the historic center of
Quito in the province of Pichincha is the San Agustín Convent, a patrimonial
building of historical and religious character where visitors and faithful can
get a meeting with spirituality and culture.
Within the framework of
the institutional agreement between the Augustinian community and the
Technological University Equinoccial, the project "Linking with the
community" is developed with the purpose of contributing to the
enhancement of the heritage assets of the Quiteña community by disseminating
its religious, cultural and artistic values that affect The preservation of
Ecuadorian cultural heritage.
The project focuses on
positioning and consolidating the San Agustín Convent and the Miguel de Santiago
Museum as a patrimonial, religious and cultural reference for the international
and national community.
The
needs of the patrimonial building are multiple the same that have been
identified by the Augustinian community, pointing out the importance of a
rehabilitation and restoration of the entrance of the Convent San Agustín as
main problem, which generates inoperability of the current infrastructure due
to its inadequate conditions .
Consequently,
the main problem arises the proposal of the design and creation of the
architectonic preliminary project of the gallery of the Miguel de Santiago
museum, which does not have an adequate space that reflects the museographic
and museological idea according to the new trends, the same that would have the
rehabilitated space (Entrance to the convent).
The Convent San Agustín
warns of the lack of objects of museographic interpretation that encourage and
present to the public in a suggestive way the cultural values with which it
counts; Therefore it is pointed out that it is important to implement objects
of museographic interpretation of expendio to the public whose objective and
purpose contributes to education and diffusion to our heritage, identity and
cultural manifestations, the proposal will generate artistic and aesthetic
prototypes that interpret the identity of the Museum, whose religious and
corporate themes stimulate its consumption and promotion.
As a result of the
project, an architectural and artistic project was handed over to the religious
community, which was carried out with the presence of the student and teacher
group of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Equinoctial
Technological University.
The elaboration of a
diagnosis and current situation of the place strengthen the base of the
architectural project, which consolidates the information necessary in design,
plans, technical memory, architectural model and inputs required for the
execution of the architectural work.
Likewise, the museum's
cultural products will be used to be used in educational workshops and as
souvenirs in the gallery of the museum, fulfilling the purpose of spreading the
religious, cultural and artistic values of the Convent San Agustín.
INTRODUCCIÓN
Desde
su origen la arquitectura y el arte se han constituido en el recurso ideal para
las representaciones de la espiritualidad humana. Y es justamente a través de
estos géneros, que la iglesia fortalece y difunde el mensaje de Cristo, desde
su centro fundacional hacia los pueblos del mundo, Su “deber ser” fue – y
continua siendo- enseñar los fundamentos de la religión cristiana.
En ese
marco, la arquitectura religiosa con su
función integradora de las artes interpreta con una labor significativa en la
historia de devoción del pueblo y representa iconográficamente sus profundas
enseñanzas.
Por ello la
religión ha dejado como testimonio una estela de manifestaciones artísticas, en
la pintura, escultura y arquitectura, las mismas que se conservan como
patrimonio artístico cultural.
“Al
definir el patrimonio, en forma personal lo considero como un soporte de la memoria,
es decir algo relativo que se ha construido a lo largo del tiempo mediante un
complicado proceso de atribución de valores, y sometido a ciertos factores de
gusto y al propio dinamismo de la sociedad”. (Sabina Paredes,
2011).
